Whatever they are it could be worse, it could be Alain Resnais.
Anthony's Garden of Onomatopoeic Octahedrons
Re: Anthony's Garden of Onomatopoeic Octahedrons
hmmm...well, I was thinking of Last Year in Marienbad, which takes the combination of avant-garde literature, highbrow film, philosophy, and the fact that France exists to its logical conclusion. But I totally forgot he also made Hiroshima Mon Amour, which is one of my all-time faves.
So let's just say it could be worse, it could be Last Year in Marienbad ok?

I've only seen 3 of his feature films (Breathless, Viva Sa Vie and Contempt) and two short films.
I didn't get anything...real from them, his films distant me
All the french new wave winking to the camera, and the measured subversion for subversion's sake came off as annoying to me in Breathless and Contempt.
and the "let's talk about marxism" + all other french stuff in contempt is too french for me
There wasn't any of that in Viva tho, and some friends told me i might like his later films more

In Masculin Feminin there was literally an intertitle that read "This film could be called 'The Children of Marx and Coca-Cola,'" so...
And it's probably one of his most 'Godardian' films, if not THE most.

While in the process of thinking about my past, trying to re-piece it together in light of everything that's gone on with me, I spent some time browsing through old photo albums and dug up some gems:
