What is probably most significant is the chasm between how he claimed he saw things and how he could be seen. He straddled this chasm to his own advantage and to his own downfall. His quotes inciting violence were likely taken out of context since he saw his exhortations as strictly defensive--that is, he claimed to, but they were still there for the taking. With double rejection and 3 deviousness at low average, the philosophy of 358 'Deal WIth The Devil' is related to Gavin's assessment 'Damned if you do and damned if you don't" of the police's post-Floyd conundrum regarding use of force (covert, overt and/or signals mixed). It's a jungle out there; as such, with every throw of the dice, the knots of inaction are best untied.
