Freddy, TiSe, is Nick's benefactor and he did SEEM to be ushering him through the waves of Se, but probably he's so in awe of him he wound up acting in TeSi shadow to not have to collapse...the excruciatingly obvious.
Well, at some point i briefly wondered if he might actually be TeSi, but no, pretty sure you're absolutely right about this.
