Yeah, pretty sure that's it.

He wrote songs for other people first and then was successful performing his own, very poppy upbeat, but when his own material became brooding, he broke with his record company to feature it Apparently Shilo was the 'deal breaker', and he was very litigious about it, also described as 'arrogant' and 'brash' (wiki).

He also lost all feeling in his leg in 1979 and had to have a tumor removed. He said it had been happening for a few years but he just ignored it. (Consistent with Si PolR).

I have a feeling he's tons more obnoxious than he seems.

He reminds me of Richard Feynman here.

Now I found out that Neil Diamond recently got diagnosed with Parkinsons, that it's under control with medications, that he just doesn't think about it, and that he's surprised that his voice has improved because he's not running around (at 80) from concert to concert and on top of it pushing his voice for big crowds.

I didn't watch much yet (been very busy with the move) but i read the thread.
From what i've seen so far TeNi seems definitely right to me yes.
