I just hit 2023, which means the rest of you also did, so happy new year!RoshanVincente-ssam
(to be read in Ben Shapiro's voice)
I keep seeing people write "happy new years," but that is incorrect. "Happy new years" implies the celebration of the commencement of multiple years—2023, 2024, whatever—at once, and I really don't believe this is possible within the time-space continuum. Technically, however, my new year DOES begin later than each of yours, which also means it ends later than each of yours, making it a different time interval and thus a different year. It is a perfectly mathematically valid proposition to say that there are infinite 2023s.

This may be what Louis C.K. saw. There aren't really videos or even photos up of New Year's Eve celebrations in Kiribati or Tonga for 2023. Even when some Australian channel went there to film for 2022, they didn't show a celebration. Bummer, Louis, bummer.
What there is is the first sunrise of 2023. Happy New Year.
Start 2'23"
