SiFe

In this song by Jim Croce many traits and themes of SiFe coalesce: direct processing and internalization of the phenomenal world, especially nature; chronology and legacy; values like loyalty, patience, and nurturance more important than the feats of the mind that do not water the Wisdom Tree; groundedness and interpersonal warmth; the boundaried self within life as a road in the time stream; the journey is the goal but pressure is felt to achieve autonomy and leave one's mark (Ne seeking).

'City of New Orleans' is about the eponymous railroad line that was going to be discontinued and this song shares the SiFe markers mentioned above, but with much more Ti agenda achieved. It also has far greater Ni role than Ne seeking, but Steve Goodman had found out he had leukemia not long before he wrote it.

And now we come to Natalie Merchant's 'Gold Rush Brides', which I've discussed before, here, here, and here.

Follow the typical signs, the hand-painted lines, down prairie roads
Pass the lone church spire
Pass the talking wire from where to who knows?
There's no way to divide the beauty of the sky from the wild western plains
Where a man could drift, in legendary myth, by roaming over spaces
The land was free and the price was right
Dakota on the wall is a white-robed woman, broad yet maidenly
Such power in her hand as she hails the wagon man's family
I see indians that crawl through this mural that recalls our history
Who were the homestead wives?
Who were the gold rush brides?
Does anybody know?
Do their works survive their yellow fever lives in the pages they wrote?
The land was free, yet it cost their lives
In miner's lust for gold. A family's house was bought and sold, piece by piece
A widow staked her claim on a dollar and his name, so painfully
In letters mailed back home her eastern sisters they would moan
As they would read accounts of madness, childbirth, loneliness and grief

We've come to realize SiFe must have the widest variety of presentations of all the cts. That includes the jumpers (SiTi), the creative subtype ones, very Se unignoring ones, and the shadowers and aura ones. It strikes me that Cindy Lee Berryhill may be at the crossroads of all the variants. I can't think of one SiFe I know or know of who would be that puzzled if I told them they and Cindy Lee were the same cognitive type.

@5'04" to 5'13" captures both Ti agenda and its relationship to Fe.
