As per its title, this thread will be dedicated to the technical side of the board.
Let's start with a "how to" :
To attach files in a post :
-Click on the "attachments" tab at the bottom of the posting area
- attach1.png (78.05 KiB) Viewed 3626 times
-Click on "add files"
-Locate and select the file you want to attach on your hard drive
-Use the "place inline" button to insert the file in the post
- place inline.png (36.68 KiB) Viewed 3626 times
If you don't use "place inline" to put them in a specific place, the attached files will be displayed at the bottom of the post.

Okay so but we can't attach films as per
-Sarah-'s What's Up post today,
Vincent?
ps Also, is your tag thick blue and Sarah's is thin green because you're admin? pps I see when I tagged Anthony before it was also thin green and now I notice that you and I even come up thick blue on the home page postings (edit: and in the posts themselves actually), while Sarah is thin green. Is it necessary to distinguish us on such a tiny board? Can we/should we change this? (I do see a reason for keeping admin account itself thick blue font).

I just checked that :
for now we can attach films of the following file extensions :
mp3, .mpeg, .mpg, .ogg, .ogm
If Sarah's file was one of those, then the issue was probably the size of the file.
But that shouldn't happen again.
I just disabled the setting that limited it.
I'll try to see if i can add more supported format for videos (like .avi, .mov, etc).
.

No, you're right. I don't think we need to distinguish us on this board.
Roshan
It can be changed quite easily.
I'll keep admin thick blue and make everybody thin green.
Let me know if you think another configuration is better.

I'm trying to embed a video in a post with the media button, but it says i don't have permission to use the code.
"You cannot use certain BBCodes: [x]." (doesn't say x, it says media, but if i keep as it's is, i can't post)

Okay...
Both problems should be fixed now.
There was some issue with the permission settings.
I just corrected them.
Let me know if you still have any issue with this.

Does anyone else feel like they're not getting all notifications of new posts and that the ones that don't show up tend to be from the sp section?

Vincent, why is the 'new posts' feature only showing me my posts?

Okay, now I only see one post and it's e-ssam's,
Vincent. Last night it went on for pages and pages of just mine. (edit: Now it's also showing this post I just wrote).
What are the metrics supposed to be for posts to be included when you click 'new post'? Presumably everyone's posts should show up but how far back are they supposed to go and for how long are they supposed to keep showing there? My suggestion would be this should not be based on specific times or whether you've clicked on them or anything, but just on how much. the feature can hold, so as many as possible for as long as possible.
(Note: this is not urgent so if it's hard to fix it can wait but we do need a well-functioning new posts feature in the not too distant future.)

While I'm on this subject, I may as well throw in the related (though far less crucial) one of why does the who was here function at the bottom of the home page go by 'today' instead of last 24 hours like EF?

I'll look into this soon

In the meantime, the "active topics" feature might be more reliable.

It should display a list of all the topics that have been created or updated in the last 7 days, in reverse chronological order.
tbcd soon.
